Yesterday the highly anticipated trailer for Rockstars next installment into the GTA series aired. The trailer was captured directly from 720p gameplay footage of Rockstars RAGE engine, which was first create to run Rockstar Presents Table Tennis. The video captures a large sprauling city, and from the looks of it the city appears to be New York City. However since GTA 3 the game has never taken place in a real city. Also many signs and marks in the trailer would lead one to believe that this city they’re looking at is actually the return to Liberty City. Several signs, and buildings show the words Liberty City. At the very end of the trailer a male Russian voice says “Life is complicated. I killed people. Smuggled people. Sold people. Perhaps here… things will be different.” So does GTA take place in NYC or has Rockstar gone back to Liberty City but modeled it after the Big Apple? With a release date set for sometime this October gamers won’t have very long to wait.
