Windows Media Player 11 (Beta for now)

WMP will allow for streaming of content such as video to 360! This is of course after a dashboard upgrade... or so I hear. This info is of course old news by net standards but I have not seen it talked about on here yet and its very good news for those of us w/o media center PCs. Check out more on it here.

It's not you - it's only music/pics, just like Media Center.

If you have a home network (wired or wireless), you can use Windows Media Player 11 to stream the contents of your library to networked devices. well, i have a media center pc, but i still cant connect my 360 to it. Even after i go through the tedious setup through my firewall. So i have to use windows media connect to stream my music.

Windows Media Center only allows you to view pics and listen/watch audio/music using Media Center on the PC. You still need Windows Media Connect to play music during games.

WMP 11 does have Media Connect installed into it, you just need to configure it. I just tested it and it works fine.

I have Windows Media Center 2005 on my PC at the house. Without anything extra I was able to get it setup and it now streams music, pictures, and video to my 360. Only downside is it doesn't stream Xvid, Divx, etc..

It also allows me to connect to MSN Messenger on the 360 as well as browsing the net and certain Media Center specialized sites (movie/tv downloads).

It's ok. Now if I could only get it to stream divx/xvid videos I'd be in heaven with it.

I don't have a TV tuner card but it seems that if I did I would be able to use the 360 as a Tivo like device.
