I liked National Treasure. The previews looked stupid to me, but I actually enjoyed the movie. This movie is just for entertainment. Don't go in expecting to learn something. Also don't expect anything genre changing. I really don't like to many movies, but this one I just took it for what it was and liked it. Don't give up so easily Variation!!!

I wasn't bad but if you are Canadian it is not worth watching. I already know too much about American History.

keeping with the theme of the thread:
I <3 Huckabees seems like it will be awesome, and it turns out to be very awesome. The Jason Schwartzman/Mark Wahlberg combo is great and i hope to see them in more movies together in the future.

Star Wars Episode III; "It Stinks!"
No, but seriously, it's summed everything up really well, camera angles are awful during fight scenes acting is poor, dialogue is pathetic, yet oddly enough, despite the high amount of flaws, I liked it.

Not just the inventive swearing, but the excellent command of vocabulary that's apparent. It's downright shakespeare-ian. I think you'll love season 2. Swejin basically becomes the main character of the show. They should just call it "Woo & Swejin: Murdering, Whoring, Gambling, Manipulating and using language so foul Lenny Bruce would cry."

And all those are good things. Woo actually increased his language to include the word California in this season.

Picked up Assault on Precinct 13 on DVD for $10 CAD, fucking awesome film. You gotta love a movie that stays in practically one location the entire film and has nonstop violence and action. If you don't like the movie you're nuts.

In Good Company
Oh holy hell, where do I start? It lures you in w/ the comedy, but then hammers down on ya w/ the buddy movie/love story theme. Men hugging wasn't appropriate in Middle Earth, and it is not here. Also, FYI; unless you are a 26 year old who drives a 911, don't take your girlfriend to this movie.
Blade 3: Trinity

Watched Ghost in the Shell 2 : Innocence again on DVD recently.
Excellent continuation of the story from the first, while remaining an experience in itself. Eye-popping visuals, mind-bending story (which continues to explore ideas of consciousness and what constitutes a living being), and philisophically challenging. Might lose some who haven't seen the first, but a kick ass flick in all respects.

Rent 'Bully' while you're at it if you haven't had the chance to see it yet. It's based on a real incident, and was directed by the same man who directed 'Kids'.
'Bully' and 'Mean Creek' are almost the same exact story, it's strange.

'Bully' and 'Mean Creek' are almost the same exact story, it's strange.I had a discussion yesterday with some friends about Kids and Bully. One of my classmates knew the kids some of the kids involved in the original Bully incident since it took place in South Florida. Had classes with the gf of the bully's best friend.
I'm thinking I may watch these two movies while on vacation coming up.

Saints And Soldiers
WWII, trapped behind enemy lines, mormon. Decent independant film especially considering the budget. Does get a little preachy from time to time, but to it's credit I think the only time it really says "hey! I'm a mormom!" is when he mentions going on a mission.

War of the Worlds
Martians plant mooing war-machines under earth w/ plans to invade when the population is ripe for the picking. Dakota Fanning rules, H.G. Welles rolls in grave. Popcorn sales go through roof. Spielberg now officially a hack.

Wes Anderson Films - Royal Tenenbaums > Rushmore > Life Aquatic, but all three are definitely worth seeing. (Haven't seen Bottle Rocket yet.)
Election - Funny, but not as funny as expected. Refreshing comedy though, not the same old same old IMO.
Batman Begins - My favorite movie of the year so far.
War of the Worlds - Stay for the first hour, leave for the second.

Ok shew you shall die for saying Be Cool = Battlefield Earth. It was no Get Shorty but it wasn't bad. DIE DIE!
Excorsist The Begining=meh, boring, weird, didn't feel like The Exorcsist. (later this year the original version will be released by the original director)
Boogeyman= ok, kinda cheesy but a cool idea for a new type of horror movie
Darkness = t3h sux0r
Hitch = Great, Kevin James is great, Will Smith is good too. Cute movie to watch with your lady friend

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - pretty well made movie, weirdly thrown together. Great storyline, though.
Attack on Precinct 13 - spectacular movie. Loved Lequizamo and Fishburne's part, while Ethan Hawke was no slack either. Drea de Matteo looked great as always too :hump:

Howl's Moving Castle : Beautiful visualizations, the story draws you in and keeps you there with action and curious characters. Some of the emotional reactions seem very phony and a couple of the characters seem vacant and underdeveloped.

Apocalypse Now - Finally saw this movie, don't know why I was putting off watching it. The movie was intense, and I think this might be my new favorite war movie. If you haven't seen this, do so now, they don't lie when they say it is one of the best films of all time.

Definitely one of my favorite movies.
Bonnie and Clyde= intense. Makes you like the gangsters who you aren't supposed to like. They're human. Awesome movie with an incredibly gory(not in a bad way) ending.

Entourage Season One
Good show, people around my age doing what I wish I was. All the actors are great although Piven's role is probably the only one that requires actual acting. Only drawback is that they're only 1/2 hour long. I like my un-censored HBO shows to be a full hour.

War of the Worlds - Pretty good movie. Shows alien invasion from one person's eyes as opposed to seeing a world view. Had some very intense moments, and Dakota Fanning was spectacular.

Seriously? That part was kind of hard to watch. I mean, I have a strong stomach, but I got this thing for animals, I ain't no fucking PETA activist, hell, I like my steak medium rare, but whenever I see them get hurt, I cringe. That part was rough.
Anyways, saw some more movies....
I Heart Huckabees- Very entertaining. I had no idea what it was about before I watched it, and was pleseantly suprised. The characters were great, no one really seemed out of place, and I thought the whole storyline was pretty unique. If you like intelligent comedies, then this may be your type of movie.
Kill Bill Vol. 1- Very bloody, and now I think Uma Thurman is hot. I am gonna watch Volume 2 tonight.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE! Nice!
Volume 2 is great! Consider it a better, less bloody version of Volume 1 (don't get me wrong, Vol. 1 was near perfection, and I love that movie). And am I the only one who thinks Budd is an awesome character? I think you could make a movie on him and Bill alone...there just seemed to be something so complex about him, even though he isn't really a big player in the movie...
God, thanks mix, now I'm going to have to watch Vol. 2 again.

Murderball - Definitely see. One of the best of the year. http://www.xboxcircle.com/portal/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif
Broken Flowers - Reserving judgement for second viewing. Not too impressed with first view.
March of the Penguins - Tedious, blisteringly over-the-top. Avoid at all costs. http://www.xboxcircle.com/portal/forum/images/icons/icon13.gif
I'll be seeing Red Eye (advanced screening) on Wednesday, if all goes right. Stay tuned.

Run Lola Run- Entertaining, Intelligent, and Original.
The Fifth Element- Hadn't watched it since it first came out. I forgot how completely out there this movie was, difficult to figure out the tone of the story, but I almost see that as a plus in a strange way. Good movie.
Psycho- Very slow first and second act, but the third made the movie.
Annie Hall- My first Woody Allen film. Like much older movies, the story structure felt pretty weak, but everything about the film was so original It'd be hard for me to say I didn't like it.

four brothers - typical hollywood bullshot.
stealth - it was either really bad, or i just didn't get it.
blow - finally watched it, thought it was EXTREMELY overrated...just like Scarface.
Also, I was wonderin if anyone could give any insight at plot details/overall enjoyability of these two movies I stil have yet to see:
Boondock Saints
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Boondock Saints = pretty good. Nothing great, but definitely ain't bad.
Fear and Loathing = awesome. If you've read the book you'll understand everything a lot better, but you don't really need to. Just know that HST is CONSTANTLY on some kind of awesome incredible drug.
As for my reviews---
Being There- 1979 with Peter Sellers, really good in a sad sort of way.
Midnight Cowboy- Plain awesome.
Easy Rider- the movie aint to great, but Peter Fonda makes you wanna grow out your sideburns, buy a chopper, and ride through America's heartland.
40 year old virgin- DONT KNOW, BUT I WANT TO SEE IT SO BADLY!

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: One of my favorite films of all time. A hilarious trip into a delirious, hypnotic world of psychadelic drugs. It's also a very interesting look into Vietnam, as the entire film is a metaphor for our country during those years. Hunter Thompson's writing is amazingly quick, intelligent, and hysterical.
By the way, Scarface is, in fact, very overrated. And I say that to every guy I see wearing the shirt. :D

Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas: Horrible story structure. It dragged at parts, was pointless in others, and amazing at times. I loved the LSD tripping, that's probably the main reason I was even interested in the movie, but a lot of this movie I didn't like. I can't say I've read the book, and I shouldn't have to. The movie is an entity within itself, you shouldn't have to go to outside sources to understand it.
Oh, and another quickie:
Dirty Harry- Decent I guess. I think it must have been more at its time, because I watched it and it just doesn't hold a candle to some of the movies like it such as 'SE7EN' or 'Silence of the Lambs.' Good movie, but I didn't come out of it thinking 'wow.'
