So as much as I've been enjoying my gift from the DDC (Gigabyte nVidia 6600GT 128mb) - it hit the shitter today. Playing MXO, it locked up - locked up a few times the last few nights, but wasn't really sure what was causing it - but now I know. I rebooted, and it wouldn't get to POST or even give me a system warning. I removed the RAM, thinking that might have been it - still wouldn't boot. I put in my old Radeon 8500 and lookie there - we have liftoff.

So I just contacted Gigabyte and they're sending me the RMA forms - 7-10 business days for a replacement, but I bet it'll be about a month.

oh well, guess no MXO unless my old card can hold it (doubtful)

I don't think they have problems. I've been running my 6600 balls to the wall for a long time and I haven't had a single problem. It even survived my motherboard faillure.

I ran my 6600 balls to the wall...Im talking 600//1.16 and after about a month or two it died. Basically telling me my PSU wasnt supplying enough power, then artifacting and then blue screen. Called up BFG and got a new one.

hmmmm.....

blinx, not to offend, but your about as wrong as one can be. First off, the 6800GT and 6800Ultra both have 16 pipes. The 6800 vanilla can be unlocked to 16 pipes, but your never going to see one clocking even close to a 6800GT, let alone an Ultra. And, 6800GT's wont burn out clocking to ultra speeds, thats a cakewalk for them.

Well, as long as you can get it replaced, you should be okay. Otherwise, see if you can add in a little more to get yourself an even better card. I'd hate to think my 20$ went down the drain...regardless of the cause(i'd do it again if I had to)

I think 600MHZ is a little too balls to the wall. I think I finally hit the wall with my BFG. I've got it running at 570MHZ.1.20GHZ. That's as much as I can squeeze out of it before I start seeing weird stuff while playing a PC game.
That's not a bad overclock in my opinion.
