In no particular order, I give you ... The List (http://www.time.com/time/2005/100movies/the_complete_list.html)
Most of the movies are old which just goes to show its all about opinion. A good majority of TIME's writers are older (50's-60's). There's obviously a difference in the way older generations view movies as opposed to the younger ones.
All in all, the list ain't too bad.

Well you can throw Time in the garbage. Finding Nemo, Lord of the Rings.. then over-rated stuff like Raging Bull and Taxi Driver?
and they don't throw in Shawshank Redemption? which is the highest rated movie on IMDB other than Godfather..

Well, Shawshank Redemption was good, but it didn't do anything new for the genre, let alone filmmaking. Most of those movies listed were pretty big influences in the film industry. Especially for the earlier movies, which dared to be more sophisticated, which was a brave move back in the 30's, 40's, and 50's.

I don't understand what that means either.

Only movie I actually like on that list is the Godfather, that's all.

Well of course its just an opinion. Did you expect a sophisticated scientific formula to determine the "best movies"? Anywho, I've never heard of a lot of those movies, but the ones I have and seen, should def be on there.

I would have given Time more kudos if they had the ballz to do a top 10 list.

No particular order? wtf. I've heard of like 5 of those movies. The least they could do is order them. This movie is either the best or number 100....we don't we just want hits on our website. Fckn worthless sums it up.

Haha Matrix definitly doesn't belong there floodman what were you thinking?
Yeah obviously grandma and grandpa made this list up. Seven could easily beat out 90% of those movies or Fear and loathing in las vegas.
Finding Nemo wasn't even good for a childrens show, Iron Giant would have been a better choice or Toy story.

I'll try and quote David Spade as best I can...
"Casino. Ca-seen it. But I liked it better the first time it came out...when it was called Goodfellas."
Gladiotor I agree with...Shawshank was good, actually great, very moving, but not genre-defining.
Why isn't Reservoir Dogs on the list? Or what about The Usual Suspects? And where the hell is Gigli?

that list is horrible..70% of the movies are pre-1960
i like IMDB's top 250 list a lot better..it has a nice range of movies:

We'll all probably have a few we disagree with on the list.
Personally I'd get rid of Pulp Fiction, beyond overrated.
The Covenant

Citizen Kane = Most overrated movie of all time.
it turned cinema into art. I mean, it had that through the tree uncut 3 mnute shot....it was good for its time. Go Orson.

I don't see why everyone is complaining about all those old time movies on the list...have you guys even seen those movies? (And don't say 'Yes Ive seen all of them they sux they cant touch SEVEN AND FIGHT CLUB OMFG!!!!1111111')I am sure they are there for a reason.

I have seen most of the English language films on that list, and a couple of the non-english ones (City of God is amazing).
I just can't believe they left out Shawshank.. best movie of the 90s, and would have swept the Oscars if it wasn't released at the same time as Forrest Gump.

If you define good as being entertaining/enjoyable, thats always questionable. But revolutionary? Yes. They paved the way for the modern day movies we all love and enjoy.
