The timetable for Barry Bonds' return to baseball has been pushed back for an indefinite amount of time.

According to an ESPN report, Bonds is attached to an I.V. full of antibiotics 24 hours a day to fight off a potentially serious post-operative infection stemming from his knee surgery.

Bonds is essentially immobilized for the foreseeable future according to the report and therefore has ceased his rehabilitation.

Dr. Robert Armstrong, an infectious disease specialist is looking after the Giants slugger. This type of infection could last days or weeks, and must be watched closely because of the risk of infection to the bone.

Either way, Bonds won't return to rehab until Dr. Armstrong is sure the infection is absent.

Sucks for him, but didn't the surgeon have a history of this type of thing? I remember reading something about it on ESPN.

Definently, I read hints of that too but didn't really read up on it. If it is the case.. Bonds is just as stupid for going back to him over and over.

It's tough to feel sorry for the guy though.

I heard that since he's quit roids, his head is shrinking at an incredibly high rate, thus causing these infections. Fuck him, he's done.

Did you really hear that, because it kind of makes sense. If so, sweet justice. If not, well then I hope it starts to happen.

Not even man, I just pictured that is what's happening to him since he's been hiding. A la Beetlejuice :)

Ya i'm not one to be happy at a player's injury, but if it's what keeps asshole cheating barry bonds from breaking Aaron or even Ruth's record then hoorah. In fact, he should be removed from the 500 home run club. Now THAT would send a message to cheaters.

Or MLB holds a public burning of any record of Barry Bond's career in MLB. Afterwards no one speaks of him again.

MLB is full of so many idiots, what you are likely to see is that they put an asterik next to AARONS record footnoting that it WOULD have been broken if MLB didn't become so arbitrarily demanding when it came to cheating.

Long term steroid use can hamper your immune system and make your system weaker and thus less able to fight infections. His previous steroid use may have nothing to do with this infection, but it could be something to consider. Since the infection hasn't spread to the bone, he doesn't have osteomylitis yet. Getting that may require a portion of the bone being removed in order to help the healing process. This would increase the heal time dramatically.

I think, even if he is in a wheelchair, he will come out and try to hit home runs, just so he can beat that record.

The should intentially hit him when he comes to bat in the wheelchair.

Hippocratic oath should include this kind of stuff. Snake Eyez, I am going to make sure you never get your medical license. Unless, of course, you move to Santa Cruz and offer me free medical care. Then yeah, hit him in the wheelchair.

wow, you guys are a bunch of sore assholes. how can you be happy at someone's misfortune? regardless of the fact that his records are questionable. i mean come on! he is still a human. geez. cut him some slack.

on a side note, lets say that he did use steroids to hit all those homers... WHO THE FUCK CARES!? his hitting homeruns!!! thats what ppl like to see. if homers were a rare occurance, then less ppl would watch baseball. it would be an even more boring sport than it already is. and believe me, hes not the only one using steroids. i bet that almost everyone in baseball today is using some form of steroids in some degree. it helps the sport. and its not like Bonds was helping the Giants win any world series. so just cut the guy some slack. he changes the way baseball is played.

The oath is more like guidelines to be followed. Yes, guidelines.

i think all MLB teams should get together and agree to NEVER pitch to Bonds again.. intentionally walk him every single time.. see how long it goes before he flips out

Look, it's clear you don't like baseball to begin with so I dunno why you're chiming in on this subject. The reason it matters is because records are important in baseball. To have a guy who has admitted to cheating break one of the most prestigious records in the game would be horrible. This guy cheated and now he is paying the price. Good for him, karma's a b*tch. I really don't care if he has an infection. It's not going to kill him. It's just going to keep him (hopefully) from playing again and breaking a record he does not deserve. And to top it all off he's a farking asshole. So f*ck him.
