I love the way Obi Wan says that though. It sounds so bad. Like without any emotion. Just yelling to yell. Like the past 2 movies. Hah...yeah...hopefully the rest of the movie isn't like that.

OMFG!!! I just came back from the midnight showing. HOLY SHIT! My favorite movie of the whole saga. i really loved it. answered a lot of questions, reaffirmed many others, showed off some kick ass saber fights, showed off the awesomeness of lucasfilm and ILM. wow, just wow. what a way to complete the series. i wont ever see the other films the same way again. it has changed my whole perspective. although, it was VERY dark and depressing, and it also had its cheesy lines, also somethings that were a tad disappointing (namely Jackson's less than mediocre acting performance), it was a very sweet ass film. every character (not actor) at their finest. i'm really in no hurry to see it again though, because of its overall tone but man, oh man, THE SAGA IS COMPLETE!

Saw it last night at the midnight viewing. This was by far the best installment of the prequels. the saber fights were amazing!!
Although there were a few "eye rolling" moments (Noooooooo!) the overall film was top notch.

Yeah the first two movies were pure shit. Who the hell decided it was a good idea to have Yoda fight? He was bouncing around and the CG looked like shit. Yoda should have stood still and moved his lightsaber with his mind, that would have looked far better then have a 1 foot green softball flying through the air.

In my opinion the only reasons Episode 1 and 2 were so bad was because the massive focus on something that only appealed to one audience. In episode 1 it as the kiddiness of the movie and in episode 2 it was the love story. But to make the series work I guess they had to explain those parts of the story. Also its damn hard to top or get near the greatness of the OT.

Saw it last night as well and I really, really enjoyed it. I think the main reason why most people believed it was so good was because it made the first 2 look like crap. Still, no comparison to the 4,5,6 saga. But I'll definetly catch this one again.

I'm going to wait a week or so before seeing it, so it will be alot less crowded in the movie theatre. I hope its like most of you said, because I wasnt to much of a fan of episodes 1 and 2. I know they had to do the storyline, but I think they could have made them a bit more interesting. A few people in my school dressed up today. One person dressed as vader and had a red light saber and a mask on and every so often it would make the loud breathing sound.

Eh, Christensen sucked as usual. Everything else felt right to me, except toward the end. It felt like they were trying to make everything connect to Episode IV in the last 20 minutes, whats the deal?
A lot of the movie felt rushed, actually. Either I was tired, or I really can't spread the plot out in my head.

OK, I just got back from it, and I was overall satisfied, but a few parts could have been redone. First of all, Darth screaming, "NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!" I mean, c'mon, how flippin cliche? Second of all, Chewie and Yoda were aquaintinces? It's a small galaxy after all...and lastly...Jackson...jesus tittyf***ing christ...act!

Best one ever ... the storylines are wrapped up very well and the events of episodes 4 - 6 are forshadowed well .... special effects were sweet and the fight scenes were awesome. It was pretty much non-stop action.

Stupid blockbuster not having Empire. Thats my favorite one.
O well, I watched A New Hope and Return of the Jedi last night and I can say easily say this. Although both have corny lines and mediocre actors(excluding Ford), The last 3 are SO MUCH better.
Even the Clone Wars cartoon was better than Ep III

Not just in your opinion, Lax. Pretty much everyone thinks along those lines. When Lucas turned Episode One into a CG borefest, many of the fans felt betrayed. Also, the acting and mood didn't even feel like a Star Wars movie. As for the old ones, they are near perfect. Even the puppuets and animatronics looks pretty realistic, especially since most of them were pre-The Thing. And the acting in the originals is top notch, too...so even if there are corny lines, they are overlooked because they are pulled off so well. Whisper's link says it all.

I don't even think the acting was that much better in the originals. In the originals, though, the acting had feeling to it. This is just monotonous. The only actor worth mentioning in the entire prequel series, in my opinion, is McGregor(and the little boy who played Anakin in EP I for being the worst actor of all time.)

I just watched IV, V, and VI today! After watching Episode III the other night, I really wanted to see the rest...it was a great day today, for sure.
One thing I can honestly say with a straight face is that I believe Episodes I, II, and III had far better action scenes and sword fights...whereas A New Hope (lV) and Empire Strikes Back (V) seem very lackluster when it comes to sword fights. They aren't very intense and look very amateur in comparison. Though, I will say that Return of the Jedi (VI) is quite up to par regarding sword fights as I, II, and III.
I don't mind the CG in Episodes I, II, and III because that is the times we live in. But, also keep in mind that I'm not a die hard Star Wars fan...just an average fan. I haven't read any of the books, for example.
I really enjoyed how III tied in with the beginning of IV. I enjoyed how dark III was and, to my knowledge, I think it's the only PG-13 movie of the series. There was more substantive violence in it, which I enjoyed. I'm not sure if III is the only PG-13 movie, but, I know it's one of the only ones.
I look at all of the movies as a whole. The first 3 originals were far ahead of their time when the newest 3 are of current time. I think that's the only let down, but, I still find the entire series to kick ass and I will purchase the box set, should there be one, that has all 6 movies together :)

i completely agree with spartan, and am dissapointed with motoko.
the first hour and a half were dry, the last half hour was rushed, the half hour in between was amazing, but doesnt compensate for the rest of the film. Christensen was talking out his ass, jackson should be nowhere near this film, i thought he was going to tell christenson "say 'what' again! i dare you! i double dare you!". Portman's acting spectrum has broadened, profoundly, but it was too little too late. Her near robotic monotone voice form the other two films lingered in my head.
ewan was the best representation of a jedi in the whole new saga, and the story was nothing special at all. nothing special AT ALL. i was interested to see how they were going to integrate the conections between episode 4 and episode 3, but most of the film was watching an easily persuaded anakin become evil in the last movie. (seriously, i thought palpatine was mimmicking huck finn)
overall, the movie did have its redeeming moments, id rate it in the 7's, which is still arguably fresh at rotten, however: "mindblowing"?
hardly.

Seriously youv'e never seen them? I realy don't know if you will enjoy them as much compared with todays movies, but for those of who saw them years ago, they were some the best around.
They culture they spawned might be a put off since its a gigantic nerdfest, but its only because the movies can be so enjoyable- albeit dated now. I saw them on the early eighties and they were awesome- I wasn't ever obsessed, but my neighbor had every toy ever made- good times-

What a boring movie.
Even the battles were f*cking boring.
'Hey, now look at these guys fight!'
I never felt any tension during any of the battles. They were boring.
The only one I actually cared about was Grievous, and that's simply because of the four lightsabers at a time gimmick, which could have made him one of the best movie villains in a long time, but instead they kill him off.
Hell, just the sight of that bastard Jar Jar brought the movie down.
Oh, and did you guys notice that little bit of the movie with CG?
By a little bit, I mean the whole damn thing. The amount of CG in the movie was ridiculous, and they used it for the most trivial things that could have looked 20x better had they used models.
At first my overall opinion of the movie was good, but the more I look back on it, the more I can see how lame it was.

Saying you're "disspointed" as if you expect a better opinion from me is quite possibly the most patronizing thing I've heard while discussing films online. I don't care about your opinion and how it's different than mine, I just think what you said about mine was pretty low.

However, may i remind you that you're opinion on this movie was "mindblowing". I am not patronizing you, but i am singling you out, cause as mentioned before, reiterated, you're the only person who's opinion i respect (well, lax , maul and x factor too). I came to my own conclusions of the film, which were fairly objective. I was also impressed by the big cg scenes but overall, the movie didnt have enough redeeming qualities to make it better then the original movies. Better than the prevoius 2? yea, but not by much.
The acting made me feel uneasy, i think whisper had the most adequate one word review of this movie. Simply "no".
I wander into this thread, and amongst all the average joe praises, i catch yours right along side them, and as under descriptive as the rest. A one word review which makes the film out to be "mindblowing"? You give a minimnum of 2000 words for "The door in the floor" but the conclusion of a saga that spans 20 years gets one word? I cant help but be dissapointed, and i cant help but state it.

So in your "opinion," if someone liked this movie without question, they are just an "average joe" and obviously don't really know what they are talking about?
Anyways, after reading your post, here is my advice: Get up, go outside; There is a big world out there, don't get so hung up over something SO ABSOLUTELY STUPID!
No offense meant, but seriuosly... It's pretty childish to make this big of a deal out of what someone said about a movie.
And for the record, I love Ep. III. Thought it was great.

after much deliberation and thought; I overreacted about Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. After I thought about it enough; Episode 3 was ok. Just ok. Acting was lame, but over all; the movie deserves an 8/10. Nowhere near the originals, but ok. I just expected more is all, and I didnt get it and got pissed. So all in all: the movie was ok. Not amazing, bot better than 'Jedi' or 'Empire' just good. A little less enjoyable than 'A New Hope' maybe, but lightyears ahead of Episode 1 & 2.

OK, I saw it finally. I couldn't resist anymore.
To me, it was pretty good. I tied up all the loose ends as quickly as possible and only left a few minor mistakes to be found in the movie. Despite the bad acting, I felt the efftects were good and I enjoyed the grand battles scenes. The movie went far to tie the ends together and start introducing characters in later episodes.. Here's Chewbecca as an example.
The movie does get weird from tome to time.. such as EP1-2 and 99% of the way through EP3 there's this feeling of advanced technology and all that. But it really screws up the continuity of the movie to see all this high tech shit and then see Darth Vader in his 1970's Asbestos / Polyestor fire suit and Radio Shack electronic kit on his chest. It just came off weird. Plus in the begining, you see Dooku's battleship and it looks bad ass inside the bridge. You move on to Darth Vader on the bridge of his Star Destroyer at the end, and it goes right back to the 70's with the Empire crew in their gay hats and what not.
Beyond that.. despite some weirdness here and there, I like the movie.

Yeah, the transition did was not seemless which is what I feared when I first saw Ep.1. I was like, how'd it 'progress' to x-wings and tie fighters. But all that can be explained very easily.
I don't see why people get all caught up on how bad the acting was. The acting in Star Wars has ALWAYS been bad and cheesy. Go and see the OT and you will see some of the cheesiest lines. But since when was Star Wars known for big actors or cinematic perfection when it came to acting? Star Wars has always just been known for its intense action sequences wether it be dog fights in space or laser sword fights and of course, SW has been known for using technology and graphics that were ahead of its time. Ground breaking visuals that would just make your jaw drop. The acting has always been bad and less then mediocre. And of course it is because Lucas is a bad director.
I'm probably one of the biggest fans of Star Wars but I must say it, Lucas is a bad director. Don't get me wrong though, he is phenomenal at telling stories. Directing was just not his thing. That is why people see EP V and VI as being the best of the saga. They were not directed by Lucas. The other four were. But I still think that Lucas "redeemed" himself as a respectable director with Ep. 3. It was a fantastic movie.
So please don't go off scrutinizing the acting of I-III without first doing the same to IV-VI.

But yeah, there's something about Mark Hammill, rather than Hayden.
Maybe he just wasn't a "big name" or anything. I dunno. They had a certain charm.

Average Joe.
I agree about the mark hamill thing. He was very...i dont know. American. So was Han and Leia. Everybody in episode 3 was foreign, which only alienated the fans of the original even more.
The movie was in the "7's" at best. The special effects were great, but as Shrew mentioned, somethings would simply have looked better, and been cheaper, if they just used models.
Acting was TERRIBLE. TEERRIBLE. VERY VERY VERY BAD. WANT TO THROW UP. Natalie portman and ewan were redeemable, but hayden..omg. atrocious.
The story was...underwhelming. The reason all good in the galaxy dies is because of mitichlondrians? needs a rewrite. Anakin is so easily swayed he cant be credited for more than a child, rather than an all powerful being.
The fight scene shaky camera thing was a cheap way to get out of a clean, well choreographed light saber battle.
Old poeple doing backflips will never look normal.
the whole "you were the chosen one" portion of the movie was great, aside from the acting, it was very nicely executed.
The end was rushed. The last ten minutes linked up 3 and 4. The last ten minutes? they just go back and cover all the gaps in the last ten minutes? again, needs a rewrite.
All powerful sith can defeat anything...even little kids. Somehow i didnt get "all powerful evil" from that.
"NOOOOOO!" was laughable, and completely killed the mood of the ending.
the movie is far from perfect, but given the super high budget, and the feeling of closure, the movie jumps up a few points. It was very "meh". At least we'll always have episodes 4-6.
EDIT: VMAN! you reminded me of a very big major major let down from ep 3. The star wars universe is known for tense battles. I dont know if you noticed, but every movie ended with several big things happening at once.
Return of the jedi being the most climactic you have the fight with luke and palpatine, the deathstar space battle, and the battle on endor all going on at once, and it would skip from one battle to the next, to the next, like a soap opera, slowly advancing the story, all of them leading to a big climax's. ep 3 did not have that. it had one climax going on which is the whole "you were the chosen one" scene. thats a very big gripe that i haven't mentioned to anyone until you just reminded me what star wars is all about.
