View Full Version : Should I sell my Xbox now?

I've been giving some serious thought to buying an Xbox 360 on launch day. If I do I'll need to raise some cash, and it will make my current Xbox obsolete. As I've stated before I'm not a hardcore gamer, and my Xbox is just a glorified DVD right now. Should I try and sell my Xbox on Ebay to get max value for it before the price bottom falls out?

Well since your not a hardcore gamer and can hold out without an xbox until launch day than go ahead plus right now you will probably get more for it than if you wait. I'm still going to hold on to my current xbox for awhile since they are still going to make games for it.

if you know you will be able to restrain yourself from using the money on something else (say, elton john CDs) then yes you should

The money would be nice to have right now, as always, so I say sell it, put the money somewhere you'll forget about, and leave yourself clues to where you put it scattered around the house so when you start looking for it around November it will be there for you.

Pre-order the Xbox 360 at Gamerush, because they buy Xboxes for $95 (trade in credit only though.) It will keep you from spending it too!

I'm waiting to sell it, if not only for The Matrix: Path of Neo.

FYI: Horation Caine is the equivalent of nails on chalkboard.
If you don't mind not playing games from now till November or so, then get rid of it. Not that hard of a decision.

Sell it on your own..
Ebay will potientially get you more money, or it will fail miserably and you'll just screw yourself. If you put a reserve on it, it will make people think it's high and they won't bid.
It's a chance you'll have to decide on.
Gamerush buys used Xboxs for about 95 bucks. I think it was 75 for what Gamestop pays out.
The trick is that if you sell it now, you'll just blow the money before the 360 comes out.
If you wait too late to sell it, other people will be unloading their Xboxes in favor of the 360.
My plan? Sell it now and put the money in the bank. Make a seperate account or something, no access by ATM. Leave the money there and every week or so go by and dump some more money in there.

Or just preorder it, as most stores treat preorders like pre-layaway. You just waltz in, put another 10 spot on the pile and when it comes to launch time, pay the rest of your tab. At least that way you don't have to open and configure a new bank account (though I've done that alot in the past for other savings stuff)

I'm an excellent money manager, and I'm as tight as a drum. Spending the money isn't a huge concern of mine, because I'll probally end up waiting for the first price drop and/or Halo 3's release.
