I don't think releasing three versions of a within 2 years is a good thing. To me, this looks like a scared attempt by Nintendo to try to win over some older audience. They know the DS looks like sh*t compared to the PSP, so they're trying to offer style with nothing else.
Grow up, Nintendo. Your fans did.

Anybody consider that maybe Reggie is just a gigantic man?
:p
I'd have to actually play one to decide if it was do-able or not. I think it's fine that Nintendo is broadening their handheld systems. Kinda cool to have a choice, IMO.

Yeah, cool to have a choice definitely. This system had better be under $50 on launch, because the technology is just way too old...

With over 28 million GBAs sold to date, who the phluck do they think is going to buy this thing? A much better investment than putting those R&D dollars into the Revolution, for shizzle.

Waaaay too small. Man, sucks too, I'd love to pick up one of these.
Wow, the news is coming in so fast that it's nearly impossible to keep up with all the new systems and games being announced. Not getting lost in the shuffle is the new Nintendo Game Boy Micro. Not a ton is know about it yet but here is what is known:
Launch: Slated for this Fall.
Dimensions: 4 inches wide by 2 inches tall and 0.7 inches thick. (DAMN!)
Weight: 2.8 ounces.
Processor: Same as GBA SP.
Screen: 2-inches, backlit and the “best Game Boy screen ever” with adjustable brightness controls.
Color: Silver only for now, expect other color options later in the year.
Accessories: Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, removable and customizable face plate, supports standard headphones.
Software: All Game Boy Advance titles will be playable on the Game Boy Micro
I imagine if they come out w/ some sort of 'body extender' like they have for the SP, then it might be doable. Otherwise, I could see this thing causing some major hand-crampage for anyone over the age of 8.

Maybe Sony will run their PSP through a ShrinkyDink machine as well, and challenge Nintendo to a battle of the micro!

The screen is going to be smaller to. I have a sp right now and it is fine with me. I would say the perfect size. Plus it looks cool

It's the GBA SP-SP, that only plays GBA games on a uber small screen.

   :p WTF! Nintendo is going down the road that was paved by sega. Remember the sega had the genesis, gamegear, saturn out at the same time. That pretty much meant they were competeing against themselves. Oversaturation is a bad thing, especially when you have three systems that play the same media. Think about it the sp plays the same media as the mini, and the Ds does as well. Now the question is why pay 149 for a DS when you can buy a mini for like 50 dollars. I know the Ds has games as well, but again this is exactly what sega did, and was there failure. One cuts into the revenue of the other hand held, plus not one of them including the DS has the graphic capabilities of the PSP. So what is the point of the mini? Only thing I can think of is to try and crowd the market so that the psp will not get a market share. One advantage nintendo has in the current hand held market is the fact it's system has longer battery life, otherwise it is outdated handhelds competeing against the more advanced psp.

What the hell? How is it fun if you have to break your fingers and squint the whole time just to play the damn thing???

Cause a DS is the only thing that will play my DS games.

One cuts into the revenue of the other hand heldNo it doesn't. They sell GBA games no matter which system the end user has. If people want DS games, they buy a DS. Otherwise, they have an option of $79.99 for GBA SP, or probably about the same for a Micro (if they want to be trendy). In the end, no matter which system is bought, GBA software sales will continue to skyrocket because they are fun, quality games.
plus not one of them including the DS has the graphic capabilities of the PSP.Graphics don't make a game. They don't hurt, but there are other things that come first in my book. Don't get me wrong, I have a PSP and wholeheartedly agree that the DS has no prayer to reach its graphical prowess, but there are crap games on both systems, and they're being crap has nothing to do with their graphics, good or otherwise.

Couldn't have put it better myself, but I was talking about the potential revenue of the hardware (DS, gameboy sp, and micro) will be greatly compromised. Why buy the sp when micro is (maybe) cheaper and can play the same media. The DS is another story, because you can at least play DS games. But revenue is the question I pose because there is not going to be a advantage in getting either handheld.

With that aside, Nintendo makes the majority of their profit from the licensing fees they impose on third-parties to carry titles on each platform. Always has been that way, and that is why their third-party support has gone in the crapper over the last few generations.

Id rather an SP, cause it'll play your GB/GBC games as well, and the screen is much larger.
