View Full Version : Xbox Retirement

So one of my "special" xbox's just bit it... and a piece of equipment that used to be located internally is now so covered with liquified metallic substance from experimenting that I believe it is now time to retire it.
I was thinking of a ritualistic viking funeral... any other ideas?

Throw it from the rooftops of a 25 story building.

Unfortunately all the 25 story buildings tend to have pedestrians below them. While I would find this incredibley amusing, the police probably wouldn't share those feelings.

Forge some celebrities signature on it, then sell the broken Xbox on ebay.
Stupid people = $$$

Same here, but if the 360 won't play Xbox 1 games I'll be keeping mine.

I have gone through a pretty hefty list of consoles in my lifetime... I think I will be keeping my Xbox, even after the 360 is released because it's just that special.
I think that following the release of the 360, is when my original Xbox game collection will really take off, since games will most likely be dirt cheap (or pretty close) by that time.

DoH!
For what it's worth, that one special Xbox still works despite all the stuff I've done to it.

Send it to me, I'm making a shrine of dead/fried xbox's in the corner of my room. Also spit on a piece of paper and tape a piece of your hair to the xbox please.

I still have my original one from November 16th 2001...We're a dying breed, I tell ya. Still going strong.
I say you blow it up. Anything is better when there are loud noise, fire, and projectiles involved.

I've still got my original, but barely use it. The Thompson is getting weak, so it gets to rest most of the time. Second one is a year or year and a half old.

Yeah, if both mine took a crap on me today then I'd probably just get myself some jacks and a jump rope.

My first xbox already died on me last year :) but my Halo xbox made a great replacement. For the funeral for mine I just put it in the dustiest place in my room. Theres so much dust on the top of my old xbox that the top is no longer black.

why not sell it on ebay... i can see a guy making a ton of money just buying them for cheap and fixing them and selling them for almost full price

If only we knew if the 360 was backwards compatable..... a flood of XBoxes would get returned to local EB Gamestops

I say box the thing up and take it to Wally World, they took back the botched ahem, adjustment, ahem we did for the guy at my work. Apparently the new versions are a bit different, and much more complex, I didn't know this, and promptly fried the mother board after about the 30th time I soldered on it.
(better?)

Ahhh you said the dreaded 3 letter word!!! You were talking about forum moderators, right? That's right, moderators.

I really am not sure. For XO to be a legitimate Xbox 360 & Xbox web site, I don't imagine it would be.

As of now, for general members, no. But there might be more on that in days to come - you'll see.
