Is there a way to hide or make smaller the line in each post that lists the user info and their online status of the person that made each post?

Scroll down to Thread Display mode and change it to threaded if you want, I think that's what you're implying. Let me know.

That's still not it. Everybody's posts have a rectangular area with their name their online status on the left then on the right their join date location etc. Then underneath that is their actual message.
I'm wondering if there's a way to shrink or eliminate that rectangle. Seems to take up more room the the actual message in most cases.

No, you can't. That's part of the post bit. Sorry, that's just how it is. I don't think it's that bad (except in cases when there's a bunch of awards there - which will get).
Where are you from in NY?

Rochester.
And thanks for looking into it...it's worth a shot. I'm big on minimal space since i do a lot of forum browsing at work while I got jobs running.

You can disable avatars in your User CP settings. There's a slew of other options in there (threaded/hybrid modes) that should give you what you'd prefer.
I'm down in New Paltz, Maneatingcow is up in Buffalo - nice to have another NY'er here. Enjoy your stay.

Thanks casper. I've tried a bunch of the options and have sigs and avs turned off already. What's with the one dude here having like 20 arcade championships listed everytime..ouch!

Yeah, we might see if we can do something about it. Over time it should balance itself out, but we'll see.
