Xbox 360 Dashboard Update Delay:
We linked a story yesterday at Xboxic that broke the news of an update for the Xbox 360 dashboard. We received confirmation from Microsoft that the Xboxic information was indeed accurate and that an update was “imminent”. Unfortunately, that update was supposed to head to production today but a few minor issues pushed the target date back to Monday. There will also be a Call Of Duty 2 update hitting the following day, so next week should be a good one for Xbox 360 owners.
hotness!
this is supposed to fix a ton of bugs and issues w/ the 360 Live dashboard and all that, even let you download stuff in the background instead of waiting half an hour for your demo downloads and you can't do ****.

Well I got the update downloaded and now my 360 is flashing 3 red lights. I got a box coming.
I don't really think it was the update because the console started freezing lots today for the first time before I downloading the updates.

I've had smooth sailing as well. Pretty lame update though. Oh well, I'm sure it was probably just a test by Microsoft to see what kind of bandwidth they needed for something like that and whatnot. This just paves the way for bigger, better, and more substancial updates in the future...

Wasn't that because your Net went dead?

According to a number of reports however, the real reason for the update was a preemptive strike of sorts, preventing a possible security breach following the availability of 'kiosk discs'.
Hackers had discovered that the discs designed for in-store Xbox 360 demonstration kiosks did not contain any copy-protection, allowing multpiple copies to be produced that would run on standard retail units. Since December, the demo disc code has been appearing on the Internet for download from Usenet sites, allowing gamers to burn their own working copy free of charge.
Although the discs in question held nothing more than game demos, it was believed that the security breach could lead to hackers uncovering further security loopholes in the new machine. As a result fo the automatic update, the kiosk discs no longer function.

^I could never get that kiosk disc to work before anyway.
So Brevity, you 360 screen went all screwed up? Thats how mine started, after the first time that happened, then it happened again and occured more often until I got 3 red lights when I start my console up.

Check this:
Last night, my 360 didn't work worth a crap.
Turned it on this morning and it worked fine.
I have no idea what the problem was.

I would do that except when I push the power button nothing comes on the screen. the 3 red lights just flash like 3 seconds after I press the power button. It doesn't make a difference if the hard drive is attached or not. thx anyway.
