3/10...
theres so many things wrong about it from my point of view. like the bg, name, the glare on the rapper's face, white clouds, grunge theme. It gives a felling of grunge, which relates to emo/goth. not the kind of message u want to send to rap, hip/hop.
but thats just me.

I've always wondered, what is emo? Emotional? Than wouldn't most all music be a part fo the "emo" genre??? How can something you put your heart and soul into not be emotional?
Also, most of the bands considered to be "emo" have lifeless, boring, repetitive, and empty music...which is ironic, considering that they belong to the "emotional" category...

Well, he still has a long way to go until the concert. Like i said currently he is working on finalizing his songs and shit. He just gave me his albums name today, so i have to add that to the poster and incorporate stuff into it... Like i said its got a long way to go, but thanks for all the feedback, and Joker, I dont like rap but im getting paid.

Any reason you have the Explicit Lyrice in there being that it's a concert? I'd like to be able to do something for him, if he wants a site and album cover - it's going to cost him, but not much. Tell him to contact me if he wants better work done .
No offense, but with the company we've been working on, we have guys that have experience with this type of stuff and can help promote him a bit better.

be careful for what you use to create graphic stuff for him. If u use other graphical elements that are made by other ppl, you could face some lawsuit about copyright issue or something. I'm not sure if u made the tape effect or the background...but try to come up with design of ur own created from scratch.
Not everyone who owns a computer and photoshop is automatically a graphic designer.

He is looking for a site, but that will come prolly after the concert, I'll make sure to hit you up if he is interested in the price and all. He is soon to shoot a music video, so he is aquiring the money for all this.
And the advisory thing was if he wanted that cover for the CD case. I can remove it easy.

I hate to say this because you are probably under an insurmountable amount of pressure to provide a working product for this guy.. but this second "poster" is worse than the first one.
This is just my 2 cents but by looking at these 2 posters, I don't think you're personally ready to start doing professional graphics and get paid for it.
I'm kind of leaning that you are in over your head.
I'm not trying to bust your chops or anything but this is something I could no longer ignore. If he's an up and coming artist and he's paying for a service from you, I think so far you are doing him more harm than good.
I mean seriously, that second one is bad.
You are probably pretty good with photoshop and all that, but this isn't going to do it. Unless you pull a hail Mary between now and then, you should probably have someone other person with more experience do this, or move his contract to another group.

slick... please dont take offense to what im about to say...
yea i agree with claimer.... but...it depends on what kind of poster he is asking for. If he is asking for a poster that is like what u put up on ur walls, then i would drop the project. If he was going to have those printed out, the quality would come out bad (believe me, i had trouble trying to print out something i thought would look the same as what i saw in photoshop and I got yelled at by my proffessor for printing out a project before class lol.) this will force you to redisign and can get expensive.
If he is just looking for a basic black and white poster, then that would work. But it should be in black and white and maybe a color or 2. From a student graphic designer's point of view, like me, I dont see what you are trying to visually communicate. You are acting as a decorator. Decorators makes things looks cool with no visual communication purpose. Designers create visual messages that serves a purpose in a work. Like for example, if you have a line or dot on the page that serves as no purpose, but is just there bc it looks cool, then it should not be there. Then you have to look at composition, structure, grid system layout, typography, contrast, etc. This is what real graphic design is all about. Graphic design is not all about photoshop and a computer.
I'm just giving you some advice based on my experience and what i've learned because he is paying you. If he is not that impressed with your work as you try to progress, drop the project and tell him that you were unable to do it and that you are not a proffessional graphic designer and that someone more experience should work on it. something like that.
And to help you get better at this stuff... You should check out some graphic design books and do a research on what graphic design is really about and how it can help you get better. Believe me, you'll learn a lot and i kno i did.
hope that helps.

But also, some stuff can't be learn from book's or people. IMO..
The first one, is to clutter.. its true it has no definition...
The second one , same thing I don't see it happening.

i thought the same till i got into my first design class last year. You can learn a lot, but it's up to you and your ability to solve a problem or come up with a solution to a problem.

Nope, but have established a company for web design, hosting, as well as other Internet goodies. Mec and one of my friends are the graphics gurus that work for it, Mec being one of the founding fathers :)
