I made an impulse buy today. I went to EB to ask about the trade in value for my Xbox and on my way out I saw that Battlefield 2 came out.
OK, so I got it. I'm getting ready to go and play it.

I'll report back with what I think of it. I just wish my internet would remain stable enough to get on Live. I need a new modem and I'm waiting for the tech to come with it.

I'm playing it. I love the game. It's very team based, but if you wanna be a lone gun, you can do it. You just have to be a very malleable player.

Not sure what my screen name is int he game. Either MerimacHamwich or MapleHamwich. I'm the third rank. So you start as a private, then you get private first class, then something else, then the rank I'm at. I think it's sergeant.

-edit-
I'm talking PC version ofcourse. XBox version is Battlefield: Modern Combat. Got confused with the name.

Bah... I forgot that it had a different name on the Xbox.

OK, I played it for a bit. It's a good game. Probably would be a lot more fun on Live.
So in the campaign, you take turns fighting missions as different country's military units. The first 6 or so missions have been mostly urban combat-street battles with close quarter stuff on an oil rig.
Each mission is objective based. Do this, go here and protect that. Wait here, defend that and go there and blow that up.
So far each mission has a different feel to it. This is a sniper mission, this is a anti-armor mission, this is a vehicle mission.. and so forth.

Combat is fast and spastic. There's a lot going on and sometimes you don't realize it. The controls are tight, the graphics are ok and sound is not what I'd like though.

Driving vehicles takes some practice. Land vehicles and boats use the left thumbstick for all movements which is a bit weird sometimes. Helicopters will take a lot of practice to get used to. Believe me, I want to be good with the helicopters but trying to land it on a moving ship under fire to deliver troops took a few tries.

In the campaign you play as the normal soldier and you can "hot swap" to any soldier on the field within sight range. You can swap to any position in the vehicle.. just keep in mind that if you're the only one in the vehicle, it won't drive. If you're the only one in the helicopter, it will crash.

I give the game:
Eight out of ten because of some control weirdness and the computer will respawn you in front of an incoming rocket.

I know this game will be more fun on Live.
I also have this feeling that there's a high chance of becoming a speed bump on the battlefield with all the vehicles.

I want to play BF2: MC just to see how the guns are, since a lot of them are totally different from the PC version.

It looks nice, but it will never be on my game shelf since I already have the PC version.

Are you liking it? I think it will be cool on Live.
I think you're already on my friend's list.
So after work tomorrow, I'm going to have to buy a new headset because I can't find my Halo headset anywhere.

Somebody answer me this though:
In the game do you have the press the white button to talk or can you just talk freely?

It's pretty fun. I haven't played the campaign yet, but that's not really why I bought this game. As far as talking I think you have to hit the white button, but I haven't been wearing my headset.

Helicopters are a little difficult to handle, but everything else feels good. I really don't like the voting system, but eh, not much to do about that.

I'm still figuring a lot of the stuff out (what's a manual?) but for the most part everything works just like every other shooter you've ever played.

Played some more. There are some problems with the game like some people like to play the same damn maps over and over and over, and sometimes it seems pretty mindless but I played a few rounds with some organized people today and it was a blast.

Hell, I caught a ride on a chopper, bailed out, machine gunned a jeep and it's gunner on the way down, landed on a balcony where I healed a teammate who was holding one of our flags solo, then held the downstairs for the next few minutes racking up a ton of kills. For what problems it has, that was just plain fun.

I still can't get on Live. I got my new headset and everything.
Time Warner is still doing hurricane repairs so I was told when I called and bitched about my spastic connection. My maximum internet speeds are like 100K right now. It'll be that way until repairs are completed.
Damn..

All I can do is play the campaign modes, which is getting old because the computer opponents are retards.

I played the shit out of the demo. It was a fun game. I haven't picked the game up though. I'm not willing to shell out 50 for xbox games anymore.

I will hopefully be getting mine at the end of this week. How is the lag online?

I checked out the forums at the BF site and it is full of whiners about the lag issues.

I am getting either this or Star Wars BattlefrontII tomorrow, which one should i get?

Get Battlefront 2, so you can post a review of your own here for us. :D

I've really only had one or two servers with lag issues. Everything else was negligible if not great.

edit: Also, if any of you that have this and want to get a few rounds in here in the next hour or so, pm me or im me if you have my contact info.

I played it last night for the first time on Live, now that I got my internet straightened out.
My first game was a small game of 4 players and nobody spoke. It was pretty boring. I just used it to get used to the controls more and learn the dynamics of this game's combat aspects. Stuff like weapon ranges, accuracy on the move, driving stuff on the map and just the little stuff I don't want to have to figure out in a big game.
I quit out and played a bigger conquest game with about 10 people. That was pretty fun. I spent most of my time in a humvee and a little in a helicopter.
It's fun, it has a lot of potiential. I hate how the wheeled vehicles handle and flying is a weird experience. I also think the reload times take too long for your guns.
