Robbie Bach, President of Entertainment and Devices Division for Microsoft, believes that the Xbox 360 will be profitable in 2008. As losses continue to shrink for the EDD section for Microsoft, that goal is slowly becoming obtainable.

In an <a href="http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2125545,00.asp">interview with eWeek</a>, Bach notes that there are numerous ways for the Xbox 360 to generate revenue. There are three in total. The first is on the Xbox 360 hardware, the second is on the actual games, and the third is the money generated from Xbox Live. Finally, you've got the Xbox 360 peripherals that can also generate revenue.

<em>"So, it's a business that will be profitable next year—we'll make money next year and that will be the first time, which is pretty exciting. And then the next two or three years are the place where you need to make tracks, and the next two or three years are where you have to make money."</em>
