So my 360 that I bought at the end of January broke about a month ago. I've been too busy to replace it but now I am ready. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the receipt. I'm sure it's around somewhere but I'm wondering what my options are without it.

I know that MS extended their warranty to a year but do you need to have the receipt? I've heard of people walking into walmart with 360s that they didn't purchase there and just exchanging it for a new one (I actually did buy it there and can bring in a statement showing a purchase for whatever a premium 360 and RS:V plus tax would be), anyone have any experience with that?

My manufacture date is 5/31/06 so I'm pretty sure that Walmart fucked me with a returned unit, but other than the fact that I can prove I spent X amount of dollars there on a certain date, I just don't have a receipt stating that it was definitely for a 360.

I would take it to wal-mart ... they take anything back. If they won't take it back then don't tip your hand. Ask what you would need in order for them to take it back. Ask specifically if a bank statement with the purchase date, amount, and store name would be enough. When they say yes ... whip it out (the statement).

But they will probably take it back ... no questions?

Yeah, but I'm going to try Wal-Mart first so that hopefully I can avoid the whole shipping thing.

I did the whole shipping thing and got mine back in less than a week... then again, i am only a few hours away from the repair center.

you won't need your receipt if you go through 1800 4 my xbox, just the SN and some personal info... as for wal mart, i dont know.

I just found a tutorial online and fixed it myself. My Xbox has been working fine for over a month. It has never froze or I haven't gotten the three red lights since I fixed it. It only cost me $6 to fix.
