I've read the reviews, learned a bit, and am starting to narrow it down.

The thing is, I listen to music enough for me to warrant spending a few extra bucks for a decent pair of headphones, and now that I have some spare cash, I'm looking to buy.

As it stands, I've been pretty impressed by what everyone's saying about a few headphones in particular.

First pair I'm looking at are the Sennheiser HD-555's.

They're anywhere from $110-$160, which is the price range I'm comfortable with. From the numerous sites I've been to I've read a number of good reviews. Problem is, I think I would need a headphone amplifier for these because one of the devices I'd be listening to them with would be my Ipod, which would get drained pretty fast by these things.

The other pair are the Shure E3c Sound Isolating Earphones

Those run anywhere from $100-$200. Again, good reviews, atleast from Amazon.com, but I've got a few restraints. First off, from the brief reading I've done, apparently the lack of airflow to these Sound Isolating headphones causes a loss in sound quality that open headphones (like the Sennheisers) have.

If any of you have walked my path already and have some info or suggestions you'd like to make, please do.

Do you notice any difference in battery life with those headphones Stunna?

Nice choice on the over ear headphones, I've been looking at those too, but I might go and get the 590's if my wallet feels like it. Anyways, those ear buds are good, but I think you'd be better off just buying the Sony MDR 771 Fontopia ear buds, since the sound quality is almost as good as the Shure EC3 (and IMO, better than the EC2's) and then use the extra money to go all out on the over the ear headphones.

Actually, I'm just planning on buying one set of headphones.

One drawback for me with the Sennheiser's is my hair, I've got longer hair so to even have these against my ears I'd need to comb it back or do something. There's also the need for an amp to give them the power they need. If I could get the same quality of sound that everyone's saying Sennheiser has from a pair of in ear headphones, I think I'd go that route, but so far it seems pretty unanimous that there are very few headphones on the same level.

I have the Shure E2cs and I love em. Takes a while of getting used to with the whole plugging in your ear thing, but once you do, they're awesome.
