Good fight coming up this weekend (PPV), where Arturo Gatti fights Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather (33 - 0, 22 KO's, 27 Yrs. Old) is considered the best P4P fighter, but to me is nothing short of a loud mouth homeboy who is so scared of most of his opponents, and has to berate them so as to help him with his crumbling self confidence.
Gatti (39-6, 30 KO's, 32 Yrs. Old) is definietely not lacking any heart. If you ever watched any of the three Gatti Vs. Mickey Ward fights, you would know that this man is not afraid of a bloodbath. He does leave himself open from time to time but his hard punch pulverizes and punishes his opponents leaving many on the floor.
My gut wants Gatti to win, especially after the interview I saw this weekend between the two. I can remember three great fights Gatti was in, where he fought ala Rocky to wins and defeats.
Mayweather? His record although perfect is full of chumps. He has a hard punch, but his ability to get it launched will be severely diminished if Gatti gets in his kitchen and starts cooking. Gatti is a toe to toe fighter and can go that pace the complete 12. Mayweather has never been pushed to those extremes, and it will be interesting to hear what he says after the fight, regardless of the outcome.
On paper, it looks to me to be Mayweathers to lose. Looking at both of their careers from my vantage point? It is an upset in the making.
