For those gamers that have been patiently waiting the arrival of the Crackdown demo to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace, get ready for it to hit this week. It has been confirmed that the demo will hit January 23rd at 2:00am PST. The demo will feature co-op gameplay of the anticipated action title hitting stores very shortly.

I'm looking forward to the demo, but honestly, even if the game is weak, it will still sell just because of the Halo 3 beta key.

Ok, I had about 1-2 hours to really get into the demo for Crackdown last night, and I even played with a buddy online for quite a while. Here are some of my thoughts and stories...

Single Player Game - Ok, so instead of killing bad guys and trying to advance through the game, I just explored the area they allow you to play in the demo. Although the area they give is not gigantic, it's still really large. My favorite area so far is the beach where the huge ferris wheel is. There are a ton of agility orbs there so you can quickly increase your jumping ability by at least 2. After you do this, you'll be able to just 25 feet high, and with a running start, you can jump about 50 feet on level ground. Be careful, though, if you jump off the tallest building in the area, you'll die instantly (Trust me on that one : ). Anyway, I had more fun jumping from rooftop to rooftop and scaling building than killing baddies or driving around. It was just one little piece of the game, and I was having a complete blast playing it. I can't wait to put some more time into driving, cause there are so many jumps that area set up everywhere...

Multiplayer "Co-Op" - The reason I put the word Co-Op in quotes is because it's only co-op if you want it to be. When my buddy and I were playing, there really wasn't a single moment when we were actually working together to complete the game. I mean we were either playing follow the leader, increasing our jumping skills, racing, or seeing if we could hit each other with pedestrian corpses. There's just so much you can do with one other person in the game with you. At one point I entered a race and my buddy was able to join me so that we were racing both against the clock, and each other. I was chatting with friend this morning and he told me of a little game he and his buddy were playing together in the game last night (After I probably fell asleep). They were playing a game of tag. Basically they were chasing each other around the city and you had to kick or punch the other player to make him "it". He was describing how after someone was "it", the other person would hop into a car, or start scaling a building to try and get away. The person that was "it" would try shooting out the tires of the car, or try and catch up to the person on foot. I mean what other games can give you such a rush playing something so simple and easy to play? That's just one of many reasons why this game has become a must-buy for both Pete and myself. February 20th will not come soon enough!

This game is so much fun. The graphics are great, it has a comic book feel for it. But just leveling up your guy makes the game awesome. I love improving the agility and jumping from roof to roof. I have been following this game ever since they announced it in GameInformer. I think many people will be buying the game because of the Halo 3 beta. But I want Crackdown first, it is fun.
