According to The Wall Street Journal.

"About 695,000 consumers own either a Blu-ray or an HD-DVD player, according to Tom Adams of Adams Media Research in Carmel, Calif. But only about 25,000 have purchased stand-alone Blu-ray players. Another 400,000 consumers have Blu-ray because they bought a Sony PS3 game console. Meanwhile, about 120,000 or so have a stand-alone HD-DVD player while about 150,000 have an HD-DVD upgrade kit for their Xbox 360 game consoles, Mr. Adams says. He adds that those numbers are well in excess of the 300,000 DVD-player sales in 1997, when that technology rolled out."

As much as I would love to support MS with getting this drive, there is not enough movies on the HD-DVD format for me to invest in this right now. I went to Circuit City to look for what they had, since I had $200 in gift cards, but there was only about 15 titles for sale there. It's just sad how they split the drives up and screw us over like this.

You can look through the selection that netflix has for hd-dvd to see other movies on hd-dvd that best buy or circuit city may not have.

Good idea, sir. I'll get on that, but still am hoping for a drive that does both Blu-ray and HD-DVD. It only makes sense...

Casper LG is showing a player at CES this year that plays both, and Time Warner is showing a new DVD format that actually uses both.
