WARNING: This thread is likely to contain a hell of a lot of spoilers, so BEWARE!
As for Begins, I must say: Fuck Tim Burton. Fuck The Original Films. Batman Begins has done the character of Batman right. The movie succeeds in not only telling a great version of the Batman story, but also includes various other characters who are all equally as great.
Out of all of the characters in the film, the only one that seems to fall flat is Katie Holmes' character. Her performance was not BAD, but her acting seems to be a bit off in a few scenes (When in the car with Bruce is the first that comes to mind).
My only other criticism of the film is that the comedy elements were not always spot on, and sometimes seemed excessive, such as during the Tumbler chase.
I am looking forward to where they bring this franchise. From what I've read, they plan on making this a trilogy, with Begins being the first of the series.
The final scene, by the way, was one of the best little closers to a superhero film, and such a great tease. Those fuckers.

I just got back from it and agree wholeheartedly with the cow, turned out to be very well done.
I'm not a huge fan of the recent slew of comic book movies, but this one was worth the ticket price, something that's rare as of late.
As for the spoiler and talk of a trilogy, that doesn't mean we're going to see a re-hash of the Joker does it? I assumed and hoped that that was just the tie-in to the originals. I wouldn't mind seeing more of the Scarecrow, very cool villain.
EDIT:
The lack of CG was so god damn refreshing.
I saw the movie tonight and it was entertaining, just like many movies I've seen over the past few years, but this movie was different, it feels much more memorable. The one thing that's going through my mind right now is 'I'll remember this movie 10 years from now'. It just brought back what a great action movie should be. As I was watching it I was just waiting for them to explain something with 'magic', like the extremely overrated Spiderman, but that never came. Every nit-picky thing I could think of was put to rest, and it made it that much easier to just sit back and enjoy the movie.
And did I mention CG is over-used in todays films? Who knows why, it takes you out of the movie faster than someone throwing popcorn at the back of your head. One recent example? Star Wars. The MAJORITY of the film was shot using computers, and it just looks horrible. I don't get how anyone actually thinks this modern crap looks better than what we've seen using models. Battle of Hoth or Battle of Naboo? Hell, even the renegade robot from Robocop was more believable than most modern CG. CG's been put to good use in a few instances, Jurassic Park for example with the T-Rex, and now Batman Begins, but the bad outweigh the good by far. Like I said, it was so refreshing to see those cop cars actually crash, rather than have some shiny CG model do a million flips before blowing up or something to that effect. That's enough ranting on CG for now though.
Christian Bale did a good job with the Bruce Wayne role, it was nice to see an almost growling Batman (conversation with bad cop who was hanging upside down). He brought that 'I'm glad he's on our side' feel of Batman to the screen, which was something that some of the previous 'Batmans' lacked. In this version Batman actually seemed menacing, rather than some dorky hero who stands with his fists planted into his waist with a perfect smile.
I almost feel bad for the comic book movies coming out in the next few months.

Batman Begins has NO CONNECTION to the earlier Batman films. None at all. The tease of the Joker at the end of Begins is simply a nice touch to amuse fans of Batman, and also to possibly throw a red herring about the next Batman film.
We could easily see the Scarecrow in the next film, no doubt. I'd bet for a fact that they will stay away from Catwoman. It would be nice to see Two-Face done some Justice, or if they do decide to do Joker, do him as a homicidal madman, much different than Burton's version.

Funny I thought Joker was a homicidal madman, after all he did try to kill thousands of Gotham citizens with poison gas.

The director christopher nolan isnt signed on to do the second film yet, but christian bale is.
The director wants to see the public opinion before he decides.

Batman Begins is how you use CG correctly. It's filled to the brink with it and most you will never notice.
Absolutely loved this movie. Never was a batman fan and while I enjoyed Burton's I never got into them enough to actually buy them and watch em again.
This however is a must buy. Wonderful cast, perfectly executed, grounded in reality and one badass batmobile that doesn't look like it will crumple in a low speed fender bender.
I really hope that this movie has legs or that WB doesn't panic due to the relatively low BO numbers it is posting this weekend (compared to expectations). This movie has a lot of bad batman memories to get people to forget and go in seeing this one as a fresh, unrelated comic book movie.
Best movie of the summer....so far.

I don't know what you guys are talking about the first two batmans were great, the batmobile wasn't changed, micheal Keaton was a superb batman and the show was fairly dark. I havn't seen this new one but I hear it's pretty good from most people.

The first two Batman's were "OKAY." Being the director that he is, Tim Burton has impressed his own look and feel to Gotham. It was dark, but it was hardly realistic. Begins is able to bring forth a Gotham and Batman/Bruce Wayne that is entirely believable.

After the opening scene, when the giant, flapping batcloud formed the batsymbol, I nearly jizzed, right there, in my pants. I cannot say why, but that was the best title scene I have ever witnessed. Also, when Bruce's parents were shot, it was so realistic...the druggie, the way he moved, and the look on his dad's face that told you he knew this man was going to be easily set off.
The scarecrow was a great villian, and was incorporated very well...there was no chase scene between he and the Caped Crusader...he did not keep Katie Holmes prisoner until the end, when Batman came in to save the day as so many other hero movies have done...the focus was on him, then gone again...Also, the fact that Dr. Crane went insane after being sprayed, means that the scarecrow character will now be totally unpredictable and dangerous in the upcoming titles. I like how the foreshadowing of "The Narrows" being closed off, but still in need of a savior, lets you into the idea that Batman will be making future trips there in future movies.
BTW the ninja scene when they were all dressed the same and Liam Neeson was attacking the inhibited Bruce Wayne, that was AWESOME!~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111
This movie isn't really about Batman, you know? It's about Bruce Wayne, and his path to discover his destiny.
