I purchased my console in march, which means i exceed the 90 day manufacturers warranty/ i called 1-800-4 my-xbox and was told the intructions to ressetting it. It did not work, so they say i have to pay 140 dollars to fix it. BULL shit. Is there anything else i can do to bring back my machine, or do i have to submit to microsofts demands?

That's why you always buy the extended warranty on consoles, folks.

I'd call and demand to speak with a manager. Microsoft knows full well they have faulty machines out there and should be willing to replace ANYONES whose screws up.

I bought mine pretty much at the Aus launch and am yet to have a problem with any 360 games, although I have been playing kotor 1 on it and every now and again the sfx sounds totally disspear.. wierd.. must have screwed it up when they were making it playable on the 360..

the warranty argument doesnt really fly...a machine should very well last at least six months if under no stressful conditions. Period. Extended warranty's should be for the time you accidently spilled beer on your console or you dropped it.
The fact that buying a warranty is now *required* in order to have a system last through its lifetime (my n64 still works, no warranty), is bull. That you have all accepted it, is also, bull.
lets see, how much is the extended warranty? at my local best buy i think it was a 100 bux, but lets says its 50. On top of 430 dollar price tag, the console now becomes a 500 dollars system (with tax).
This is seriously bull. Thanks for all your help though, fellas, the sarcasm and dead end rhetoric has really helped my situation.

And when everyone asks me why I haven't bought a 360, this is why...
I refuse to spend $500+ on a machine notorious for shitting the bed..

*shrug* the only company that deals in the gaming industry that i've seen time and time again make quality products is Nintendo...sony and MS have both shown that they have faulty products in a small percentage of those produced....and 6months =! 2 years.....warranties are worth it....but maybe that makes me cynical for believing my luck will run dry if i fail to buy one....

god created manufacturers warranties, that last a good year. 30 days, which got extended to 90 days is nothing. Satan must have created in store warranties and replacement plans.
However, thank you jjax, i actually got mine working again for a lil while, and eliminated the three red lights problem, periodically, all thanks to jjax. Smart guy.
anyways, the problem is a known and recognized problem, and if its known and recognized then it should be dealt with for those of us who purchased it early.
Google "foil in the xbox 360"
PS

So i'm starting to get constant freezing, & after reading this thread i went & had a look at the manufacture's warranty card that came with the 360 & it stated 1 year for NZ & Aussie, or maybe i've just missed something

Life lectures over a broken Xbox360! Check your cliche at the door. :teach:
You don't teach life lessons to The Covenant... the word unlucky is almost his philosophy. The odds have never been in his favor, but he landed a decent job. He then scrapped up enough to get a decent car, a working PC, a kick ass HDTV, and a Xbox360. You better have cancer, multiple amputations, and type with your tongue if you're going to lecture him about how unfair life is.
Whoever said "trouble comes in pairs" needs a lesson in trouble.
After a couple grueling hours of cleaning up his shed/room, we plugged in his HDTV, and the bulb blew out. His PC was wrecked soon after. His Altima overheated and needed a new engine, and now his Xbox360 is crap. Sure there are those out there worse off than my buddy here... but I'm proud to say he's worked his ass off to get here and his achievements should not be overlooked because he has such luxuries. Everything he cherishes usually does not last long..
We replaced the HDTV the next day. Few months later, I got a PC from my neighbor, I threw in a 9600Pro, and a new keyboard and gave it to Covey. He borrowed $2000 from our other friend to get a replacement engine.. and now we are attempting to resuscitate his Xbox360 ourselves. It's not my place to say, but he sure is lucky to have friends like us! :D
That "boohoo, get over it" attitude ticks me off. I'm sure I speak for him when I say life lectures and sympathy is not what he wanted out of this thread. How about help him out like JJax?
Just wasting my time here with another pointless internet lecture.

And i guess Aussie will claim those 3 sales as their own, as they do with every famous person from NZ

If you have 300 dollars on you. I would recommend goin to wal-mart or target and buying one, and switching the consoles and returning it claiming that its broken. They take returns with no questions asked. Thats my recommendation, i did it twice with my xbox.

With all that right there, that's exactly why he should have gotten a warranty - and a warranty on everything else he buys. The kids got the luck of a Russian born during Chernobyl, dam.

My 360 has worked fine since purchased in March. Scew the extended warranties, if it lasts 3-years you can save enough to buy a XBox 720.
