Anyone else catch 53, or even pay attention to the UFC?

There were some great fights, including the main event with Orlovsky.

I don't like to see who's fighting on the card before watching (besides the main event), so some of the fighters were surprising.

Forrest Griffin (from the UF show) actually fought, and did pretty well. In the TV series I wasn't overly impressed with his skill, but you can tell he's improved since then, he actually choked the guy (Bill Mahood) out for the victory.

Another guy from the show on Spike, Nate (guy who broke his ankle) fought, and beat Shonie Carter (who I hadn't heard of before the night, but he had a 66-12-7 record). That was a pretty good fight as well, I think Nate knocked him out, either that or beat him by submission.

The Loiseau vs. McCarthy fight started off pretty normal, but the way it ended was pretty interesting to see. You don't really see spinning kicks land much, but Loiseau landed it right on McCarthy ribcage, knocked him into the cage, then came up to knee him in the face.

After the main event they played the fight between Diaz and Oishi, which was lame. Diaz (guy who beat Robbie Lawler in one of the past events) knocked Oishi out pretty easily, mainly because Oishi didn't seem to know how to fight, he had his hands spread out and his head straight up.

The Evan Tanner and Rich Franklin fight was alright, Franklin knocked Tanner out after 4 rounds of Franklin basically beating Tanner down. I was kind of dissapointed with the fight, I expected Tanner to win, and not only did he not do that, he didn't look like he was prepared.

The main event, Andrei Arlovski and Justin Eilers, was a pretty good one. Arlovski destroyed Eilers in a single round, which was what I expected, and wanted to see. Arlovski's just insanely strong and fast, and the vampire teeth are pretty badass if I do say so myself.

Anyway, anyone else follow the UFC?

I'm not like you brother, I don't follow it real closely. If it's on, then I'm definitely going to stop for a few minutes and watch the fight that's taking place. There are some great fights that take place, but I usually seem to catch the fights that tend to put you to sleep. No disrespect to the sport, even though these guys get hardcore most fights I've seen just don't get that intense. It's definitely good to watch every now and then.

You know.. the UFC was something I really like.. 10 or 11 years ago. But for some reason I just never got around to watching ever again. I like the idea of it and I enjoyed the ones I've seen, but for some reason I just never got on to the rest of the series. Back in the past my favorites were Ken Shamrock, Kimo, Royce Gracie and Dan Severn.

I actually have a friend that fought/fights in the UFC. His name is Jens Pulver - Lightweight division. I went to High School with him.

Anyway, a bunch of buddies and I will get together and pitch in money to watch the UFC. Not always, though, mainly when Jens fights. I'm not a hardcore follower, but, I will rent them or watch it on the INHD channel (In High Definition Channel) which plays fights from last year pretty often.

Personally, I find the UFC to be quite addicting.

damn, Jens a freakin beast... He has some of the fastest/strongest hands in his weight class...

back to the topic:

I've pretty much seen every UFC... This past one was ok.. nothing special, but the UFC is always awesome to watch.

The sport is only getting bigger and bigger.. although the best fighters are still in Japan and fight in PRIDE FC
